This Saturday is Free RPG Day!
It’s exactly what it sounds like: stop by your friendly local game store and pick up the free goodies that various game publishers have made available.
I especially recommend that you grab a copy of 9th Level Games' anthology, Level 1. Why? Because I have contributed one of the short games in that anthology. My game is called Once, This Land Was One...
It's a game where you start by rolling all the dice you have to represent a great cataclysm, then tell a story of rival cities rebuilding in the ruins by stacking dice into little cityscapes.
Now you might be asking: do you really need to roll all the dice you have? Well, here’s the secret: the game still works fine if you just roll a bunch of dice, say as many as you can hold in both hands. The colors and sizes of the dice you roll affect the tone of the game, so can curate your dice pile a little if you want to tweak that. But really, don’t you want to, at least once, roll literally every dice you own in a single action? Here I am rolling 111 dice at the start of a game of Once, This Land Was One…
Happy Free RPG Day to us all.
Gamefully Yours,
Alexi
